Mr. Beef and Pizza

Establishment is very neon/50s era code. But is also grimey. Could use a very good deep clean. Pizza and fries were good. The beef left much to be desired. This beef is what you would get in the UK if they had some there. UK version aka very little flavor. The hot pepper blend is 90% oil and no flavor.

This place is retro with all the foods you'd find in a retro diner. All are just awesome. We've been coming here for decades and everything is always as good as you'd expect.

Great food. Gives 50s diner vibes. Love the name.

This past early September marked the very first time trying the popular Mount Prospect eatery after taking my boys to a nearby indoor playground. Venue has a spacious dining area with an old school classic vibe, slot machines, extensive all-around menu with really good food (especially the pizza) at still reasonable prices and friendly service. A cool place to dine in for some good quality eats and family/kid friendly indeed. I live all the way up in Beach Park but if ever down in the area again, I'd highly consider stopping at Mr. Beef and Pizza again! I've always strived to support local and hope for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).

I ordered a pepperoni pizza slice. I became alarmed when I noticed there was just one pepperoni on the pizza and then found that most of them were hidden beneath the cheese layer. I believe this was done on purpose to give it a distinctive appearance. The pizza's cheese was spread equally throughout. The pie's frame was airy and slightly firm, and the sauce had a subtle tartness. I also had a New York strip steak sandwich. The steak itself was delicious and had a good charred aroma from the grill. The only issue I had was that it was cooked too well, which made it difficult to chew. The bread is lightly toasted, has a lovely golden color, and is still fluffy. The sandwich is served with sliced tomatoes, a little sweet grilled onions, and freshly chopped lettuce.
