Lovely mother/daughter team! I've only had the pleasure of trying their food twice, but both times it was exceptional! Both ladies I've interacted with were so sweet and helpful, you can clearly see that hospitality is a passion for them. (Thank you for the guava pastry today, it was so amazing!)
Friendly staff welcomed us and were very accommodating. The menu is small with limited items but worked fine for us. The place is a big open garden with lots of seating options. Some shaded and some out in the sun. DJ was playing beats and the music was pretty loud. Certainly not the place for intimate conversation…The food itself was wonderful! I ordered vegetarian soup and a cubano sandwich and both were great!
We traveled to Arcata for my birthday and to visit with our daughter who is a student at Cal Poly Humboldt. We decided to visit Mothers Cooking Experience to have brunch but also to support a black owned business. Once inside, we looked over the menu and ordered our meals at the counter. We found a table and sipped on our mimosas while we waited on our meals. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with fried chicken. The chicken was tender, juicy and seasoned to perfection and the pancakes were just as scrumptious! My husband had one of the best sellers..fried chicken, black beans, toast, potatoes and eggs. Everything was finger licking good!! We will be going back on our next visit. Thank you Alby for making us feel at home.
Went there on Sunday and they do a buffet style and charge by the weight of your plate. I liked that idea because I got to try a little of everything and everything was tasty. They did say some items on the menu you could still order like their chicken sandwich. It's a food truck but next to a winery were there are seats and tables you can sit at. The biscuit and pancake were fluffy and got a side of honey butter. Yum! Fried chicken was super juicy and had perfect crisp. Beans had a lot of flavor. The Portobello mushroom had a very strong balsamic taste, but I still enjoyed it, nice and tender. The egg was great, all in all we enjoyed trying all of it. I'll definitely be back for their fried chicken sandwich!
Wow, what a fabulous hidden gem! Food was 10/10. My fiancé got the Havana bowl and the chicken literally fell off the bone and was melt in your mouth delish! A previous review mentioned how the Cuban sandwich was soggy. They changed the bread it’s served on and it was amazing! Chefs kiss. Will definitely be back. It is a bit pricey but we never mind when the food is this high quality!
