Monterrey Mexican Grill

This is the best Mexican food in Ames. Other places still have their nostalgia, but if you want the best food, this is where you go. Great service, great recipes, and some really great people. Give this place a try! The buffet during weekday lunch is a great value, but dinner is a treat as well. Priced fairly and high quality. I find myself coming back here more often every time.

We came here for two of our friends’ 21st birthday dinner during Valentine’s Day weekend and they were offering 20% off specials. Walking in, the place was very nice we were excited to try it for the first time. We all ordered different things and every single dish was so good. Even though we came close to closing, the food was fresh and the service was excellent. Our waitress was so sweet, and when we mentioned it was our friends’ birthdays, the owner came out to greet us and make sure we had everything we needed. His energy was so positive and welcoming — super smiley. To top it off, he surprised us with margaritas with sparklers and really gave us a whole show. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving good Mexican food. The food is fresh, flavorful, and the portions are generous. Their menu has all the classics like burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and chimichangas, and everything is packed with authentic flavor.

Food was amazing! Chips, salsa & queso. Flaming fajitas & chimis were delicious!Drinks excellent! Waiters were very friendly & attentive! Will definitely be back! Buffet is daily from 11-3p so we'll have to come back for that, under $15!
