Downtown Deli

Stopped in for lunch on the way to Minneapolis. Asked what was popular and the guy behind the counter told us (turkey) but said it wasn’t the best. Asked what’s the best- the Downtown Deli special. Asked what’s on that- whatever he decides at the time! So we went for it (some spicy meats and all the fixings) and it was great! Also tried the chili and the Wisconsin cheese soup - both very good. The place got really busy while we were there. Low prices and great food! Would definitely go out of my way to lunch here if ever in the area again. Plenty of free parking behind the shop.

This is such a great little spot. The staff is kind amd helpful. The sandwiches, souls, and desserts are all awesome. I had the dip and was so happy with the recommendation. This is an establishment locally for a reason.

Great Place! Fast friendly service, food is excellent. I had the corned beef on rye, with everything. I like how they let you customize your sandwhich with what you want, unlike some chain deli's. They will even warm it up for you! They offer chips, fountain drinks, and some desserts if you'd like. No wifi, bike racks, or delivery, though they do cater!

I've been hooked since I first had a sandwich from Downtown Deli! Whenever I'm around during lunchtime, I go out of my way to get a sandwich from here. The service is great and fast, and the sandwiches are fantastic.

Always my go-to favorite for lunch in Ames! Super friendly staff, clean restaurant and you can be in and out quickly if needed. If you like Capicola tell them you want the Brandi special! 😍
