Monkton Station

The Monkton station offers picnic tables, benches, shade, a small museum, clean bathrooms with flushing toilets and running water, bicycle service station and a cafe. It has a small parking lot, I got there a few minutes before 9a.m. and half the parking lot was full. The museum attendant opened the gate at 9a.m. for additional parking spaces.

One of my favorite trails to ride. The trail is a beginner level, very roomy for others to pass. I have traveled 16 miles in one direction and haven't hit an end. Very scenic. Great for a walk, jog or cycling.

We rode the NCR trail from Ashland to White hall and we stopped by Monkton Hotel Cafe for lunch. They finally opened the bathroom so you don't need to use the porter pot. The cafe is very cute and have great sandwiches. I love the NCR trail in the fall.

Aside from walking or biking the trail, you can walk about 20min north until a blue lined tree where you can put in a tube and float about an hour down the river until the overpass.

This restored railroad station now turned state park display office is a hidden gem. Riders or river tubers can treat themselves to a ice cream or review some of the other displays detailing the abundance of plants and wildlife that inhabit the Monkton area.
