Monica's Taqueria

We were a group of 5 guys looking for a good Mexican restaurant for dinner and Monica’s Taqueria gets 5 stars from all 5 guys. Service was outstanding and the food delicious. We all said we would dine here again. The dishes we ordered were Burrito Bowls, Burrito, Chimichanga and Three Taco Dinner with beef tongue as the meat. We recommend that if you are in Muscatine looking for Mexican food, head to Monica’s.

I have been coming the past 2 days ordering from there caldos (soups) they offer and I tell you they don’t disappoint! Caldo de pescado mixto and there caldo de res are authentic and good. I recommend this place

Stopped in after bowling tournament and was impressed. We just returned from Mexico and wanted some authentic food here. My son devoured the queso saying it's the best he's had. Chimichanga was big! I had the tacos with birria and was in heaven. The staff were amazing and even made friends with my 3yr old which is a tough thing to do. Can't wait to come back for more greatness!

Ms T and I have spent a considerable number of nights back in Muscatine lately and finally had a chance to eat at a few of the local restaurants that we had not been able to try before. I had three meals at El Olmito and found here an excellent homestyle taqueria. Muscatine has at least four credible restaurants; El Olmito, El Allende, Las Lomas and Guadalajara. I have tried them all and rank them in the order given, but all are OK. I have not tried Restaurant Izalco. El Olmito is the real deal. I ate lunch here twice and both times had tacos. The lengua is excellent. It is actually shredded, rather than the usual cubed. Twice I had chorizo and egg tacos. They have a little tomato and chile in the eggs. Perfect. We stopped in at Monica’s Taqueria for lunch this past weekend and it was such a great experience. Our family decided to share a burrito and a few tacos and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were spot on and tasted really fresh. The service was just as good as the food, super friendly and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you immediately want to come back again. Definitely a gem in Muscatine for authentic Mexican food.
