Moby Dick House of Kabob

Moby Dick at Urbana serves high-quality, delicious food that comes out fast, which makes it a great option for a quick meal. My favorites are their weekday lunch specials and the fresh bread, which is always a highlight. The seating area is a bit limited, so I usually prefer to order takeout, but the food is consistently good enough to keep me coming back.

Nice clean store. Friendly staff. Went there to try there baklava and it was SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. For $5-$6 I was expecting nice, authentic crispy, crunchy, flavourful baklava... Instead... I received flappy, soggy, dough that has absorbed nearby food flavors... Tasted nothing like baklava. Ate half of a square. Examined the other 3 for the crunch at least, and tossed them. You cannot keep something that's supposed to be crunchy in a plastic clamshell container. Also out in the open the oils and the philo dough will absorb the aromas in the air. Do better. Food smells good.

I ordered the beef, lamb and chicken kabob meals. The beef kabobs were dry, the lamb kabobs were too salty and the chicken kabobs were okay but burnt. The salad tasted old and you can see old lettuce leaves everywhere. We couldn’t finish what I ordered as it tasted terrible. Too bad because I was excited to try this place out.

Moby Dick’s is a small place we’ve stopped at before. It’s usually clean, and it’s been a convenient spot for a quick meal. My husband wanted to grab lunch here, so we stopped in. This time, though, our table had some scraps left on it, and it didn’t seem like the staff noticed. We ended up wiping it down ourselves. The food also seemed less authentic in taste than before—more like heat-and-serve now, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it’s still an okay spot for a casual meal, but I wish the cleanliness and food quality were better this time.

The chicken kabob has been great the last couple of times I've ordered. The problem is with the yogurt and chutney that comes with the order. One time it was warm and I didn't feel safe letting my family eat it. Now today the yogurt was cold but the made on date was missing, which again caused me to throw it away instead of letting my family eat it.
