MJ's Deli

The lady that runs this place is so nice! She told us they're known for their pickles and they really were very good -- with a nice crunch! We also really liked our sandwiches. Not only were they large but they were very tasty. We tried the new yorker and the three peat.

We ordered online and picked up. I got a Ruben with coleslaw for me, a turkey sub for my 13 year old, and a hot dog for my youngest. The Ruben was the best I’ve ever had. So flavorful, great portion. My kids both loved their food too. The cookies and brownies were a huge hit too. We will definitely be back.

Writing this review because 1) their sandwiches and potato salad are incredible and 2) the staff are the kindest people ever!! They mailed my bag back to me when I lost it! Diving into the details 1) I ordered the New Yorker sub and it was STACKED! The sandwich is so big that I I shared it with my partner and it was plenty. The best part of the meal though was their potato salad. The seasonings and flavor were very stand out. The potatoes were the perfect texture too! I loved it and would highly recommend! The entire meal was perfect for a hot day. 2) I lost my reusable bag here when visiting Ojai and was honestly pretty sad about it. I figured I should just call and see if I left it at the deli. Amazing deli! We were starving after a hike & MJ’s did not disappoint. We had the New Yorker, the Big Cali, the potato salad, & two pickles to go. Bummed they did not toast my sandwich while I asked for it hot, but they did toast my husband’s, & the cashier was also being trained so she may have just missed it. That slight disappointment went away very quickly though because the sandwich was soooooo good. Like, talking about if we could do the 45 min drive to MJ’s from our place just to come back again good, lol. We both also really liked the potato salad, tasted very “pickley” with tons of dill as well. If you’re not into pickles, the flavor may be a bit strong, but we loved it. I love this place I get lunch here while I’m at work all the time, the people working are so sweet and the sandwiches always hit the spot. Reasonable price for the amount of food you get. Clean, yummy, right in the middle of town
