Had a wonderful dinner here last night featuring schnitzels, braised red cabbage, Austrian potato salad and homemade sourdough rolls. This is their standing Wednesday offering and it’s not to be missed!

We had a delightful meal there last night! I had the berry-Brie burger that was very tasty and the bun was out of this world. My wife had cioppino with halibut, shrimp and scallops that was excellent. The restaurant feels warm and homey and the server was perfect. Highly recommend this little gem!

As an Ojai local, finding a place like Chris Bakes is a real treat. You'll definitely want to go on a Wednesday night, because that's when Chef Andre, who is from Germany, makes a truly authentic German Schnitzel meal. It's the real deal—frankly, something I wouldn't expect to find anywhere else, let alone here in town. ​But it's not just about the Schnitzel. The owner, Chris, creates pastries that you just won't find anywhere else. (He makes a homemade gourmet pop-tart that you just have to try.) I've also been for their Sunday breakfast, and the waffles are absolutely fantastic. ​And on top of the great food, the operation itself is excellent. Great new restaurant in Meiner Oaks. Small interior with a few tables and bar seats. One table is a the center piece of the restaurant. There is also a heated seating area on the patio. A selection of great cocktails and food. The food was excellent with a small variety of entreee and appetizers. A small selection of cocktails and desserts. The service is excellent and a great local feel. The wines by the glass are limited and definitely the only area of caution. Try a cocktail or beer. Parking is easy on the street but make sure to get a reservation. It fills up quickly!

Amazing. What a sweet find in Ojai but not downtown. We wanted to eat outside and the shaded patio was so inviting and cool. We got the sea bass special. It was served with puff pastry atop a fresh tomato sauce. We also split the Mac and cheese. Both were extremely yummy. We will be back. Thank you chef for also visiting our table to check on us.
