5 stars! Such a great experience at Miss Sophie’s Southern Kitchen in Pooler (inside the Mighty 8th Museum). The restaurant feels so clean, bright, and refreshed, and the food is seriously delicious. You can feel the new creative energy and direction, while still keeping the classic Southern flavors and legacy Mrs. Sophie’s is known for. The menu is packed with amazing options and everything tastes homemade and full of flavor. Easily one of the best Southern kitchens in Pooler/Savannah — perfect for lunch or an everyday meal.
This is the perfect spot to enjoy really great Southern food in Pooler. The fried chicken was absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The menu has a great variety of options, and everything we tried was full of flavor. Make sure to save room for dessert, the banana pudding is amazing. The place feels cozy and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommend!
What a find! Who would think a restaurant located in the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum would have outstanding southern food? The fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast and all the side dishes left us both full and satisfied. One dish after another was delicious and tasty. They offer a variety of ways to order your food and we opted for the buffet and tried a little of all the outstanding homemade dishes. The staff was gracious & attentive. In the end we finished with cornbread (YUM) and peach cobbler. Another bonus is the museum and a piece of history that was amazing to learn about. We have already been there twice and will be back often and frequently!
I smelled the fried chicken when I was at the air museum outside Miss Sophie's and had to try it. What a fabulous group of ladies and good ole homegrown southern cooking. Great Fried Chicken, Broccoli Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, and Banana Pudding.
This restaurant is like stepping into grandma's house, except it's in an airplane hangar and has better decor. The meatloaf is so good, I’m convinced they have a grandmother in the back who bakes every dish. The sides include a variety of options, authentic for the south. Whether you are visiting as a tourist, or on lunch break from work, I highly recommend.
