Great food and amazing service, everything came out super fast and looked fresh. We were a little lost but our server took his time to explain a few things to us and even mixed up a dipping sauce. My only complain would be the restrooms, you go from a 5 star dinning room to a restroom that's a bit sketchy, gum on the floor, no toilet paper, wet paper towels on the floor. It wasn't extreme but left a bad last impression which is a bit sad considering the rest of our experience that night. Again, everything else was awesome and it might have been because it was close to closing time and a weekday for the reason for the restroom being how it was. Will be visiting again soon although we might stick to just washing our hands in the restroom next time.

Mikiya Wagyu Sukiyaki really surprised me in the best way. It feels special the moment you walk in, but not in an intimidating or overly formal way. Instead, it’s calm, welcoming, and clearly focused on doing things right. The Wagyu is the star, and it absolutely delivers. The marbling, texture, and flavor are incredible, and the sukiyaki style lets the beef shine without distraction. You can taste the quality immediately, and every bite feels intentional and carefully prepared. What stood out just as much was the service. The team was attentive, patient, and genuinely cared about the experience. They explained things naturally, checked in at the right moments, and made the meal feel relaxed while still polished. Overall, Mikiya feels like a place built by people who truly respect great

Food was pretty good overall. The seafood section was the highlight for me, sashimi and seafood plates were really solid. The wagyu beef, which is their main selling point, didn’t really stand out though. Once it’s in hot pot, I honestly couldn’t tell much of a difference between the wagyu and regular good-quality beef. If you’re mainly here for beef, there are probably better places. Besides, they do offer a lot more than just hot pot. The curry rice, drinks, and desserts were a nice bonus, and for the price, it felt worth it. The main downside was the wait. One person in our group came early to put our name down, and another had already made a Yelp reservation the day before, but we still ended up waiting quite a long time. Since they limit dining time to 90 minutes, I’m not sure why th

~~~Review from a non food influencer with nothing to gain~~~ I'd usually travel to OC/LA/Vegas .... finally a Chubby Concept here in my home town of San Diego! Gone are the days of "settling" at another low quality hot pot places and wishing we were eating at a chubby owned concept. As per usual with my visits to chubby... I always get the diamond tier. Chubby Club Plus membership... recommended / worth it. Ambiance/decor is nice, esp the exterior. Interior is a bit tight, by who cares. Servers are elite.... Nuff said. The hiring team clearly knows what they're doing. (This is consistent at chubby cattle bbq, chubby hot pot, wagyu factory hot pot, wagyu factory bbq, mikiya Shabu house, etc) PREMIUM: wagyu bone marrow / wagyu nigiri / bluefin hand roll with uni / amaebi / wagy
Perfect shabu experience! The beef was incredibly tender and fresh. Whitney provided excellent service and was attentive and friendly throughout the meal! Would definitely come back again!
