Do Not take your business to Michael Welch, CPA. They were working on our 2024 LLC taxes and his assistant had one question for us which could have been -easily- handled BUT the assistant called us ONCE and didn't leave a mssg and that was it. No email, no text, not even a 2nd call, admitted by the assistant. After turning in our taxes, we didn't hear from them for 2 weeks and then we were out of the country for another 3+ weeks. Once we got back, we realized that they hadn't sent us our completed taxes for the IRS and the deadline had passed! We emailed them asking where our taxes were and the assistant, said, "we never heard from you so he couldn't finish your taxes." AVOID AT ALL COSTS! There are tons of competent tax filing services in the area.. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. This tax filing service provided absolutely zero communication. None. They kept saying they would call for a consultation/conversation, but I heard nothing. The preparer knew I would owe taxes (something I’ve actually never experienced before) and extended our filing to October without informing us that we’d incur penalties on the balance. There was no discussion or notice about these penalties. Had we known, we would have NEVER authorized the extension, especially given our substantial tax bill from selling an investment property. We would have paid right then as we had the means. We specifically sought their help to minimize our tax liability, but instead, they increased it signif

We have had a great experience with Michael. We’re 3 years in to our business and he has been very helpful.

Michael is a competent accountant, but minimal communicator. We had a tax planning meeting in December and still got hit with a $15,000 tax bill despite Michaels assurances that we had paid sufficient estimates. When we asked him how this happened he did not take responsibility. He also said he would support Quickbooks for our small business when we hired him but changed his policy because QB is a pain. In short, Michael does not like to deal with messiness. So use him if your taxes are straightforward as he has good wisdom, but not if your situation will cause any unpleasantness. UPDATE: So far we have had errors and additional funds required from CO and Ks and on the business; so Michael is looking less and less competent.

Michael has helped me with my taxes the last 2 years. He is very knowledgeable and responsive during the process. Any questions that came up he was able to answer right away and made the process easy. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good CPA for personal or business taxes
