Mexicali Bar & Grill

I was passing through California on a Sunday from The Pickle in Jamestown and was going to the buffet at Burger Haus, but it was graduation day and they weren't open. I had rode my motorcycle by Mexicali on the way into town and smelled some beef cooking. 👀 When I couldn't get the buffet I went back to see how busy they were, then went in to try this place. We went out to the deck to be seated under an umbrella, which was nice, and ordered drinks and got chips. The water didn't taste good, and my Pepsi didn't taste right. I told him about it and he said they just changed the syrup, so he would get me a new one. That one was fine. We ordered a burrito and boneless winds with waffle fries. The burrito was so full of rice with very little else in it, and no condiments it said it had with it.

We placed our order for pick up and when I opened it I was disappointed. First off what I ordered was originally suppose to come with queso and I ordered an extra queso. I got charged for extra queso and only got one. No salsa or any sauce (other than the 1 thing of small queso) for my birria taco that was dry along with my enchilada that had no enchilada sauce. When I tried to call up there no one was answering amd mail box is full. I gave up. I will likely not being going back.

The food was incredible; however the server was rude, on her phone the entire time. And unbeknownst to me included a gratuity fee in my check without informing me. And despite being unaware of the extra charge I tipped anyway out of being polite. Not bad service total. But that one employee needs to be fired for scamming customers

All I can say is whatever you do do not order any kind of nachos to go because they don't leave your chips separate from the topping to where it just becomes one mushy, inedible, and cold entree. Not to mention the waste of money. Also I guess any of their appetizers or at least the helping a poppers don't come with any kind of dipping sauce whatsoever. They were also cold ordering takeout. Spent $45 and got a Pepsi out of it. I do not recommend their takeout I'm not sure about eating in the restaurant but take out is a definite.. NO!!!

Pretty busy on a Tuesday night, but the food is worth it. Grew up in Southern Arizona, and it reminded me of having dinner at my Chicano friend's house. The tortillas were obviously homemade and you can tell the people in the kitchen actually care about the food. Keep up the good work!
