Mecatos Bakery & Café

OMG! This place is awesome! We’ve been looking for this kind of restaurant for years since our favorite arepa place in Mt Dora closed during Covid-19. We had a power lunch which was incredible. We will recommend and be back soon. Btw this is what is left from 2 of us eating on it. Snack!

My first time at this Bakery but everyone was super friendly and patient while I asked a lot of questions! I tried the cheese empanada and it was so freaking good - crunchy on the outside, melted cheese on the inside, just a tad bit of sweetness and savory deliciousness. Tres leches - of course and something new I tried - dulce de leche panacota! They serve a ton of beverages too! Clean, welcoming and well organized! I would absolutely recommend it for a snack, quick bite and just because!

So much delicious food 😋 I definitely want to go back again for more! I had the Nutella cake, but really want to try the mocha cake and Oreo cake in the future! As far as the empanadas go, the chicken one is the best, followed by the cheese then beef and Hawaiian. The peppermint iced mocha hit the spot and disappeared much too quickly! Mecatos Bakery and Cafe may just be a hidden gem in Apopka!

I’ve been to this location and other locations before, and the food has always been spot on. If there is ever anything wrong, just simply talk to someone and they will automatically resolve it without any question. But that Rarely happens. The reason why I’m writing this review today is because today I was ordering A bread platter and it was going to take like 10 minutes. I sat down in the convenient, small waiting area with couches and the lady who helped me at first Viviana, knew I was waiting and came to me and offered me a coffee while I was waiting. She asked me exactly how I liked it and she did not disappoint. This is the level of customer service that every restaurant should strive for. Provide quality caring individuals like Viviana. First impression was a great looking little cafe, tasty menu, and relatively busy when I arrived at 8am. I tried to order ham and cheese but they had no ham. I ended up ordering a bacon egg and cheese on croissant. This sandwich was massive!! Have to say the bacon was meh, but the rest of the sandwich was absolutely delicious! Price was ok for the size! There were tons of holiday special items for sale also. I’d 100% return and hope to try a few more menu items. Def recommend!
