The food brings you to the streets of Afghanistan, with food, although western influenced, probably mirrors what one would find in Afghanistan today. Great taste, a little skimpy on the beef (which was just 2 sausages) for my husband but it was heavy and well balanced with egg, fries and their famous sauce. We also tried the Afghan fries, which were delicious and crispy! Hint if mint, lime, amazing seasoning and jalapeno vinaigrette on top with their famous sauce! I made a last-minute stop after an appointment in the neighborhood. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner so I picked up an order to take home. Mazako has been open for 3 weeks now and I have heard good things on social media. The dining area is clean and bright. I am not familiar with Afghan food so the friendly staff member helped me make some selections. Each menu item is clearly marked for dietary preference, gluten-free and vegan options are available. I chose the Qabuli Palau Chopan Kabob (lamb kebab over rice) and the Mantu (spiced beef and onion dumplings). Each dish was full of flavor. The serving size was just right for me. Best afghan restaurant I’ve been to! The place is very welcoming. The colors of the restaurant are bright and inviting. Decor is beautiful. Very delicious food, I had Ashoka and firni, it was delicious. The best!

Ordered mantu, qabili Palau chopan kabob, chicken, and doogh. Chopan kabab's meat is a bit tougher than I expected; chicken kabob is much softer. But both are delicious! Very recommend!

3.5 stars. I was really excited to try this place. I like the colors and decor when you walk in, small but inviting. My friend and I started with the Mantu (dumplings). The spiced beef filling was delicious but the ratio of filling to wrapper was off. The dumpling was mostly wrapper with very little filling. I had the Qabuli Palau Chopan Kabob and my friend had another lamb dish. Again the proportion were off, way too much rice and not enough lamb and other toppings. The lamb was a bit chewy but had good flavor and I appreciate the sauces were served on the side. Our favorite dish was the Chai Sabz (green tea with cardamom).
