Mateo's is a pizzeria featuring a dining area, located on Main Street in the heart of Freehold, N.J. The staff consists of family members or very close co-workers who have been with the establishment since its inception. This is evident in the warm greeting received upon arrival and the consistently attentive service provided throughout the meal. The dining area is casual and inviting, making it an ideal setting for families, where patrons are never made to feel rushed. The pizza is exceptional; I particularly recommend the cheese pie with extra sauce and the upside-down pie. We ordered seafood for Christmas Eve and every dish was absolutely amazing! Sole, mussels, linguini and clam sauce, and calamari. Absolutely delicious! Better than Livottis and they delivered the meals HOT! Gone are the days where we sit in an hour line at Livottis only to bring home cold food. The mussels were huge too!

My boss and I got lunch. Not bad and it was actually the only thing near by that was open. I liked my chicken sandwich with Brocolli rabe and mozzarella but I don’t think i would go out of my to come back. Pizza is ok. Nothing too great.

Mateos used to be a great place. Recently things have gone downhill. We ordered a plain pizza which arrived cold and burnt on the bottom. Seems like thier oven could use a good cleaning. There are places that take more pride in the food they are sending out. Don't waste your money here.
