Maro & Calal Boutique and Cafe

My husband and I went to Maro & Calal for some late night bites. The owner Mohamud was so friendly and gave awesome food/drink recommendations. The hot tea is so creamy and has a nice kick of ginger- it's a must try from one foodie to another. The beef sambusas are also top tier. Located just outside of downtown at 601 6th Ave NW -- highly recommend checking it out 😃 thanks Mohamud!

This place is a hidden gem. The owner is amazing. The drinks are so good. Ask for the traditional tea with cloves, ginger, and cardamom. Try some of the homemade chicken or fish samosa. There are different kinds of smoothies, no artificial stuff. The prices are very reasonable. Strongly recommend!

Picked up a strawberry smoothie and beef sunbusas. The sunbusas had such great flavor. I should have gotten more. 😄 I didn't get sugar in the smoothie which was good! I'm excited to return and get some chai some morning, and trying some more food! Edit: returned and got a malawax (cardamom crepe) that my 5 year old loved, and a bur (like fry bread) which was tasty as well! The hot chai is so perfect on a rainy morning. Highly recommend!!

Stumbled upon this spot and think I just found my favorite cafe in Rochester! The tea latte was so delicious and full of ginger flavor and the baklava is one of the best I’ve ever had. It isn’t overly sweet and I devoured it immediately after my first bite. Definitely going to be back to try more of their food!
