Mar Villa Guest House

My boyfriend and I wanted a weekend getaway for Valentine’s Day, and this place was perfect. It was cozy and quiet, and we were within walking distance of everything, which was great. Michael, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be back!

A great place to stay, the nicest owner, available but not in your space. A great location., a block off the lake. very quiet neighborhood, next to Varsity Sports if you need new running shoes and a great restaurant Lalou, we had breakfast there. Parking at the front door!!|| We stayed in an upstairs room, off a nice wide porch with swing and table and chairs. We enjoyed sitting on the porch visiting and playing cards at the table. ||The room was nice, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker with coffee a friend of the owners roasted and a window unit which I love the white noise so I was happy! I don't think you will be disappointed if you stay here.||Bicycle rentals across the street from the guest house.

On a last-minute lark, We booked a long weekend in May 2018. Made reservations by phone and they could not have been nicer. Check in is very casual, as was the check out time - mostly because they did not have anyone coming in that night. Rooms were clean, with great local Coffee in rooms and a small fridge. Parking right out front, on street but traffic is definitely not an issue. Local photographer had an art installation in each suite -absolutely charming! Owner Recently updated bicycles and they are available to share - you can get on the Tammany Trace just a few blocks away. ||Breakfast is on your own, but literally next door is a great cafe “LaLou”- don’t miss it! Every meal we had there was fantastic, fresh and reasonably priced. || Lots to walk to - lake front restaurant

In town for the Northshore Half Marathon weekend and had a PERFECT stay at Marvilla. Accommodations were neat and clean, bed was VERY comfortable, balcony/porch was enjoyable with the scent of sweet olive trees from the garden below and sounds of live music coming from the bicycle co-op across the street (room was very quiet). Coffee in the room was outstanding, and Michael was friendly and welcoming. Waterfront and LOTS of local shops and restaurants within easy walking distance... also highly recommend McClain's Pizzeria nearby. Really a great getaway and looking forward to booking again.

I surprised my wife for a quick getaway for Valentines Eve. When we arrived, Michael the owner, met me out on the front porch. He welcomed us and showed us to our Oasis! It was a very cozy room which was exactly what we were looking for the night. The location is within walking distance to several restaurants, bars, cafes, and the Lakefront. If you’re looking for a romantic, peaceful place, you will be completely satisfied with Marvilla. Michael, we’ll be seeing you again soon.
