Mama Surang Thai Kitchen

Had lunch today at Mama Surang’s Thai Kitchen and this our hats are off for the Chef TK!! Every dish we ordered had a balance to it. Nothing was heavy or overpowering. Everything just sat right when you ate it. We ordered the Crispy Fish Delight, with red curry paste, green beans, bell peppers, ginger, and bamboo. The fish was fried perfectly crisp and the curry had depth without being overwhelming. The Beef Brisket Penang Curry was another standout—rich, comforting, with just enough coconut milk to bring out the flavor of the beef without masking it. We also ordered the Holy Crab Fried Rice with extra crab, eggs, onions, and tomatoes, and it was loaded and done right. Service was excellent and genuinely kind and welcoming. It's a little place. Not too much seating. The crab rangoon was delicious. Plenty of filling inside. The nom tok was nice and spicy. Smaller on the portion. The beef was kind of tough. It was a bit salty maybe because certain parts weren't thoroughly mixed with the seasoning. The basil fried rice had good basil flavor. Plenty of protein in there. The rice was a little soggy. It is a good portion. It was decent enough for a quick bite.

Honestly, this is one of my go to spots that I often bring visitors from out of town to for Thai food. Staff is super friendly and food is always great. We always order their chicken satay which is always super moist. Choice of tom yum or tom kha; which both are super flavorful. Their specialty wagu with crab kao soi presentation that’s super flavorful as well. Red curry is also good. Can’t go wrong with any item on their menu but these are our go to’s. Check them out! You won’t be disappointed!

Mama Surang is about 20mins from the strip but it doesn’t disappoint! The food is flavorful and portions are were great. We came here for the crab khao soi and it’s a must to get it with the wagyu for additional $10 She server flame torched it next to us so it was an experience on top of the creamy curry noodle. I must say the soup was on the thicker side and the crab was too shredded for my liking but the smoky tender Wagyu made up for it. We also ordered a drunken noodle with chicken and eggplant with pork. Both of these dishes had just the right amount of spice and the meat was also very flavorful and tender. This was worth the trip.
