Mama Devechios Pizzeria

After passing it many times, curiosity led the Fat Man and his wife to Mama Devechio’s Pizzeria in downtown Stanford, Kentucky, known for its Neapolitan-style, stone-fired pizzas made with local ingredients. We decided to try a couple of different pies to see what this place had to offer. We started with The Kentuscany. This pizza was made with smoked pork, goat cheese, sweet red onions, and bourbon sorghum reduction. The crust had a great chew, texture, and crunch. There is a great buttery, salty flavor that melts in your mouth. The pork was dry but had good taste and some smoky notes. The red onion adds crunch, while the goat cheese has an incredible salty creaminess that the sorghum reduction mellows out and cuts through with its sweetness. My wife and I decided to eat here on a whim and we were very pleased. The food was delicious; we had Mama D's pizza and the Fresca pizza and the dessert flight. Service was excellent, as well. We will definitely be returning

Among the many pizza joints around the state of Kentucky I've eaten at, I can honestly say this was one of them. I ordered the Margherita with a side of pizza sauce. The order came out in under 15min. Uniquely bad. The fresh mozzarella was bland without a good melt. The sauce had a decent taste of freshly sourced ripe tomatoes but was too thin and watery, causing a soiled appearance. Don't come here hungry. These pizzas are small. The restaurant is presented as just classy enough to make you feel uncomfortable if you're underdressed. It's high-priced and low quality. The waitress was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was meticulously clean. Located on Main Street. Several small businesses within walking distance.

My daughter and I happened to be in Stanford for an appointment and waited until 5:00 for Mama Devechio’s to open. Definitely worth the wait! The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting and the pizza was delicious. We loved that we could order a flight of sauces to dip our pizza in. Each was unique and a great accompaniment to the pizza. Our server Amanda was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We will make a trip back to Stanford to eat here again!

We arrived on Valentine’s Day hoping to have a quiet dinner. We waited for 15 minutes and were never served. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all. There were maybe five tables filled and no waiting line. There were two waitresses who passed us multiple times and never attempted to offer assistance. Also, the host never attempted to assign us a waiter. I love coming to Standford, KY but this experience was disheartening. I hope that racism and discrimination did not influence the way we were treated. We will never come back to this place again.
