Mainport Fish & Chips

Tried the spicy grilled chicken rice bowl from Mainport Fish & Chips and honestly it was a great experience. The portion size was generous and felt like real value for money. The chicken was well cooked and flavorful, and the bowl was filling without feeling heavy. What stood out just as much as the food was the staff — everyone was friendly, welcoming, and made the whole visit pleasant. Definitely a solid spot if you’re looking for a satisfying meal with good portions and kind service. Would happily go back.

I absolutely love the food and everything with it. Service is always good and friendly and helpful if need be. And my wife loves it too. Good to eat halal food because the big food industry is trying to kill the population.

I love the guys that work here!! Great customer service! Great personalities especially Mo and Nudie. I'm sure I messed up the spelling! I love their chicken and lamb over rice. Absolutely amazing. I have also ordered fried chicken and fish from them. Well seasoned, cooked to order and always hits the spot!! Great desserts as well!! My go to spot...especially late night!!!

It's hard to admit anything bad about a fish fry spot located in the heart of New Haven but CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!! I made two separate purchases to test a theory, fish fry and rice was $12.99 after CT Food tax, $13.98 + their RANDOM $0.55 ADMIN FEE. When I ask the store owner about it, the manager said "it's based on what gas stations charge for credit card transaction." 💳 I'm gonna be honest it's a built in tip and you cannot tell me otherwise. I know how Square Space works, I helped run a business and they're charging $0.55/transaction, 50 people a week, 4 weeks in a month, times 12 months, you're looking at thousands of dollars 💸 from New Haven tax paying citizens. It's hard out here. Stop overcharging us black folks 😒 we been through too much already! Love the food, hate the overpricing

Good place to grab a quick bite. Friend chicken is good. Mix chicken had too many wings rather than legs or chest pieces. Parking lot is a mess and has pot holes the size of Montana. Overall not bad for your friend chicken cravings.
