Magnolia 525 Tavern

Our waiter was wonderful and the food was superb. We went for my birthday dinner and it was a great meal. Good ambiance while not being to loud.

Magnolia 525 Tavern is a cool little restaurant on the outskirts of Gloucester but has its downsides. The menu is pretty small, and the food was pretty mediocre, in my opinion. And not to mention, the service was painfully slow. The chicken in my sandwich was pretty chewy, too. Free parking lot out back, and the staff were pretty good. I don't recommend this place if you dont want slow service and food that isn't the best.

Although originally captivated by the ceasar with steak tips, I must now confess I am enslaved by the filet mignon. The salad is beautifully prepared, no leaf too large or to small - none less than crisp. The dressing truly distinguished among all, in my humble opinion having dined on several continents. The beef is of superb quality, and prepared flawlessly. To add that sinful sauce to the filet mignon is the sort of wild abandon that I cherish and celebrate. It is almost too good for a New Englander, but I fiercely suppress my sense of guilt and unworthiness, and rise to the occasion about once a month. You won't find better food and drink than you will get here. 525 offered the best food, drinks and service. We had the best experience today - better than every place we've been in the last month since we moved back to the area from Texas. We cannot wait to go back!

Monday night, my honey and I went out to eat. We have eaten here, many times, but this time, I tried their Chicken Picatta. OMG ! So good ! Capers, spinach and artichoke hearts in a wine sauce, over linguine. Paired with an excellent Pinot Grigio, I had a fantastic culinary experience. Seriously, I was delighted to have this great meal and the leftovers were eaten today for lunch. Matt, the bartender was good, as well. Just the right amount of attention. The man knows the job and does it well.
