Mac's Soda Bar

This is likely my second review of Mac’s Soda Bar. I haven’t been here for a couple of years but I’ll tell you this place has really gone down hill. We shared a Scallop and Clam dinner and each got a stuffed quahog. The quahogs were huge, but lacking any clams. Really it just tasted like stuffing mix with clam juice. A real letdown because this place used to have awesome quahogs. Honestly, the restaurant was empty except for one other couple. Our food was overcooked and tasteless. The coleslaw wasn’t fresh, and the tartar sauce looked like it had been sitting around for a long time. If you tried to put your fork into a fried scallop, the coating would all fall off. This is not at all what I remember Mac’s Soda Bar to be like. I doubt I’ll go back.

The food was delicious. We ordered pancakes. They were huge, so fluffy, and oh-so delicious! I got 2 eggs over-easy with homefries and white toast. All of it was cooked just the way I like it! Then, we had the Belgian waffle with banana slices, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. That was yummy! The waffle was perfection! The pricing was more than fair! Service was friendly and personable!! Would recommend!

Wow! We were blown away by the food quality, especially at the price point. Had a breakfast that I would have expected to cost 2-3x as much. Serious quality and attention to detail. Thank you!

What a lovely homey restaurant. The service was great, the atmosphere quaint and the food was very good especially given the reasonable prices.
