Lyons Regional Library District

What a gem! The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful when we stopped in on our way thru the town. A well-stocked and cozy children's area. There is an outdoor garden and play area where little ones can stretch out for a bit during a car trip break. A lot of thoughtful microzones for different age groups and interests that looked well curated. Bonus: they have many games, movies and kits that you can check out (hello ukulele and crochet kit) as well. A great community space as well with quiet reading rooms and meeting rooms and decorated with local art.

Brand new big library opened in Sept 2019! It is spacious, modern, and welcoming. Forget all those previous reviews of it being cute and small! There is one big main room with the books, dvds and computers. Then there are about 3? small rooms for quiet study or meetings or lectures. A separate big room for kid books, with toy furniture, like a castle, that opens to the outdoor play area. A very big room (approx.1,000sq.ft) that has some tall cafe style tables, but can be used for BIG meetings (150? people). This brings the library into the modern age thanks to a Library District tax, and other donations. Now I'm anxiously awaiting (hopefully) a big increase in programs, talks, arts/crafts, authors etc. A very friendly and knowledgeable staff!! The bldg is made from the local red sandstone

Absolutely love the staff here! This is truly a library for the public. They were so warm to outsiders and helped me understand what resources were available to me. I had a situation where I had a scheduled meeting that started right when the library opened, and the staff made sure to effectively communicate internally to make sure that I could come in a few minutes early the next day to set up. Really really impressed by the team here!

I love love love our Lyons library. The staff is wonderful and helpful, the space is beautiful, they have a lovely selection of books and can order in whatever we've asked for. They have fun programs and events. When my son was little we attended story time weekly and enjoyed it so much!

The staff are all friendly and easy to talk to. Free computer use for quick look ups. If you are local, free movie rental and too bad of options. They got some good books here and it's a cozy place. Good for a local person. Or any person really. Not too big though. But that's okay.
