Lovick's Cafe

Cool little diner they were slammed but got me seated quickly. Wonderful service, great people, inexpensive food. They even have a lobster omelet. The place has been there since 1941 and I hope they keep it up!

If you're in Kinston NC Lovick's Cafe is worth a stop!! Open from 6am -2pm breakfast is their speciality but lunch was perfect! We enjoyed delicious soup and pastry to warm up this cold January day. The wait staff was attentive and food came out quickly! The owner personally greeted every customer! They are celebrating 85 years for a reason! Status quo for a little diner Service was great. Everybody was very friendly. Quick stop on our way to RDU Eggs- 5/5 Grits -5/5 Sausage - 2/5 kinda gross Bacon - 5/5 Biscuit - 5/5. Delicious Red eye gravy - I can’t really write this because I’ve never had it before and I don’t know what it’s supposed to taste like but it is made with him or making drippings and mixed with coffee. It’s a big no for me. but I had to try it, Something new. I think this place is a good local diner. We would stop by again.

TLDR: decent diner, good service, in a cute location downtown. I would visit again, and probably explore different items on the menu. Greeted upon entering. Seat yourself (no wait at about half past 9 on a Tuesday). Server came to us pretty quickly, and was attentive during our visit. Food was ready pretty quickly, too. Lobster/seafood omlette - cooked well, not something I normally have for breakfast and I'm not sure I would order it again but I am glad I tried it. Warehouse Special I opted for something simple, items commonly offered at breakfast places. Eggs--scrambled. Pleasantly surprised to get a real sausage link (not the small "Jimmy Dean" style). What a delicious place to get food from while visiting Kinston. I ordered food and waited about 10-15 minutes for pick up. I ordered right away. Looked like dining room had tables available. My husband got the warehouse special. Had a good portion. Everything was cooked well. The sausage was real, which was awesome, but it was really spicy. It also felt a little tough- maybe it's always like that or just overcooked. Son got the pancakes which are a bright yellow, but had a rich vanilla flavor. He liked the sausage, but he likes spicy. I had the corned beef meal. It was cool because it came in patties. Everything was deliscous! Eggs were cooked perfect and I loved the potatoes! They were seasoned well and crunch. We will absolutely be back!! Also ordered two OJs, which were bottled.
