Lotus Cafe

I ordered egg drop soup and beef chow mein. The soup I received was a clear cabbage soup — no egg ribbons, no thickness, and nothing resembling egg drop soup at all. The main dish was also wrong: instead of beef chow mein with noodles, I was given a combo-style plate with fried rice, beef and cabbage in brown sauce, and an egg roll. There were no noodles. Photos are attached so others can see exactly what was delivered. This wasn’t a minor mistake — it was a completely different order.

I came to Lotus to have a great meal before attending an event, but the experience was extremely disappointing. Our waiter, Roberto, provided terrible service from start to finish. He ignored our table and refused to properly check in on us, the busser was the one who actually came to see if we needed anything, even though the restaurant was not busy at all. He was also very forgetful. He failed to bring what I specifically asked for and instead replaced it with something else without explaining why. When I questioned why the wrong plate was placed on our table, he responded with a smart remark and tried to brush off the issue instead of taking accountability. First time, craving Chinese and we’re around Brownsville area so I did my research found this place, first time good impression. Generous amount of food, good flavor, variety of items/plates to choose from. Service was good our waitress did good service, plus we had another waitress that wasn’t even ours & they were on top making sure we didn’t need anything. Will be going again.

Stoped in yesterday for a late lunch and first time to eat at this location. Nice clean, friendly service, quickly served and the food was top notch! Some of the best I have had in a long time. The hot sour soup spot on, delicious sesame sushi roll. Had cashew chicken lunch special yummy and plentiful! Def will go back and highly recommend!

I’ve lived in many places that have many Chinese food options - Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, San Antonio, etc. None of them get the comfort, takeout Chinese food right. It can be borderline nasty. Lotus cafe is the only place that does it right! Good quality, fresh, savory, not too salty, good portions and price point. Loaded with the chili oil on top… I’m already excited about my leftovers. Lotus cafe — satisfying my Chinese food cravings for over 30 years.
