Los Jilbertos Restaurant

I was looking for some authentic tacos when I was on my travels through Safford. Found this place with good reviews and a really friendly staff. Wow, I was blown away with the flavors and value. Tried the "beef head" tacos, pork, chicken and shrimp etc. Shrimp weren't my flavor for the day, but those beef head tacos were amazing. Atmosphere isn't exactly a "I want to bring my family to dine in" type, but worked for me on the road.

Food was good, will fill you up, if you're into basic 'authentic Mexican' fast food. Not much charm, but you'll likely consider this much better than a national or regional chain in Safford.

Odd place. Open for breakfast doesn't serve coffee. Dining room hadn't been used in a while, colder than a witch's ti... elbow. No cards only cash which isn't bad, we just didn't know. Large portions of AZ mexican food, different than the NM food we are used to. Not bad, just not good either.

Ordered taco plate,came home ready to eat. There was no meat in taco the beans were just cheese. Rice was cold. Don't waste your money.

Who knew that a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in Safford has one of the best chimichangas in the Southwest? Safe to say, I was pleasantly surprised by Los Jilbertos, and their chimichanga scores a high 11 points on the 13 point universal scale of chimichanga deliciousness. The tortilla was excellent and perfectly fried. The beans are on the runny side, which is way better than that dry, caked mess you get at a lot of places. The cheese to beans ratio in the chimi was perfect. The lettuce and pico and guac were all fresh and delicious, and their green salsa was perfect. And on top of it all, the customer service and speed of service were phenomenal. Way to go, y’all. Five stars ALL DAY, for the food.
