Best sheng jian bao I have had in the US. Thin skin, lots of flavor. Very good with chili oil. Be careful during the first bite as the soup inside will splatter!
Location of this place is in the World Mall food court. It's really popular and there is a bit of a waiting, but it moves pretty fast. 8 pan fried dumplings for 12 bucks. The dumplings are very juicy and right about of crispy. It's flavorful you can add soy dipping sauce and chili oil on you own if you like. They only have pork dumplings. My only gripe is i thought it was a bit expensive. You can get the same dumplings at Shanghai You Garden for a dollar a piece.
During our recent trip to NYC I took a 40 min subway train ride from Grand Central Station in mid-town Manhattan (just down the road from our hotel) to the great Asian food court in the New World Mall, out in the Flushing district of New York, to try some of their fantastic food offerings I had read so much about. After exiting the subway station I went straight down to the foodhall in the basement of the Mall to find some Chinese food for lunch. There were a large number of stalls selling a very diverse range of different regional Chinese and other Asian cuisines and the only one that had a small queue was the Liu Liu Sheng Jian stall, in the bottom right hand corner as you get off the esculator. So I made my way over there to see quite a few ladies at the back of the stall hand making so
Got their 6 Shanghai Pan Fried Buns. You can watch them cook them in batches on the spot. They’re juicy and have that nice signature fried bun bottom. Don’t forget to grab dipping sauce. Staff are quick and food comes out still piping hot. This food stall is located at the bottom floor food court among other Chinese food options in a large mall. Keep in mind cell service is virtually nonexistent down there so plan ahead.
Speechless. Liu Liu serves up one food and they sure know how. Their pan friend pork buns practically burst with juice, crisp bottoms but fluffy bao texture. I am forever searching for authentic baos in America and these are seriously some of the best. Highly recommend if ever in Flushing!
