Tucked behind South of Nick’s in Newport Beach, Little Son is a small, takeout-only Mexican spot with a tight, abbreviated menu focused mainly on burritos and tacos. No seating inside, so plan to grab and go. The Mexican food is good — flavorful, fresh, and satisfying without trying to overcomplicate things. It’s not a massive menu, but that’s part of the appeal. They do a few things and do them well. A couple things to know before you go: -Parking is tough. The valet / permit parking lot fills up quickly, especially during peak hours. -No seating inside, so this is strictly a takeout situation. -It’s slightly tucked away behind South of Nick’s, so first-timers may need to look for it. If you’re nearby and craving a solid burrito or tacos to-go, it’s worth the stop — just build in a few
I’ll start with the detail that will keep me coming back time and time again… I have gotten used to people mispronouncing my name. It has been so my whole life, and honestly, I’ve never minded. Today, the manager got it about 95% right, which is better than I usually get! Kudos to him. But Alex, who had heard me say it correctly when he was taking my order, took the time to discreetly correct him as he was helping package someone else’s order. It was a small, unnecessary gesture that spoke volumes. When a team cares that much about the details you don't ask for, you know you're in great hands. The food lived up to the service. The carne asada was packed with flavor and perfectly tender, not the overcooked meat you often find at quick-service spots. You can tell these were put together wi
Big fan of South of Nick’s so I was so excited that they opened this Little SON in this area! Tried their Baja bowl for lunch and for $15 it’s very large serving that would last me for two meals easily! So delicious, absolutely recommend picking up food here. And the staff was very friendly, 10/10
Little Sun in Newport Beach did not disappoint. I ordered the El Jefe burrito (no substitutions) with the light lime chicken, plus guacamole and chips and a Coke — and everything was really good. The food tasted incredibly fresh. The guacamole was clearly made fresh, the chips were crisp and fresh (not stale or greasy), and the burrito was packed with flavor. You can tell they care about quality ingredients. The restaurant itself was super clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The only thing to note is that there’s no seating inside, so you’ll need to take your food to go. But the food is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!
