So much to enjoy! My husband and I stopped during the Ligonier Ice Fest to check out this amazing library. I just love having a look at different libraries in different towns. Love this one! The kids area is something else! Large, various stations for sensory and play. Lots of books! Restrooms available in this area with changing station. Lots of activities offered. The 2 story book section is one of the most unique things I have ever seen from a first floor. Architectural art! A large open area with tables to do jigsaw puzzles with plenty to choose from. Also, book and magazines sake in this area. The quiet zone is a nice little nook for reading. Very nice! We really enjoyed this visit. Not only is this a library, but a quiet retreat, fun area for teaching the kids quiet time and a
We were visiting Ligonier for the weekend and always love to explore new libraries. I have a 6 and 7 y/o and they had so much fun exploring the kids section. There was a Lego wall, lots of computers, and fun crafts to do. The woman in the children’s library was kind when we were checking out some books. They have board games you can check out which was perfect as we were staying in a cabin nearby. I will absolutely agree with other reviews that the one thing that made me hesitant to ever return here is the staff. Aside from the woman in the childrens library, all of the interactions I had with the librarians at the main checkout desk were unwelcoming. It definitely did have a vibe that we were going to get scolded like other reviews mention. I wasn’t sure if that was just the culture of Li
Nice, local library located on the Diamond. Easy to find what you are looking for...helpful staff. I like that the children's section is on the same floor as the main library and computers. Easy to keep an eye on my children if I need to use the internet. Also Wi-fi available. At Christmas time they have a tree decorating event for the children, St. Nick puts trinkets in one of their shoes, Santa visits and there are refreshments. One negative is that it's a little chaotic around the tree and not much organization with the kids. It's all hap hazard. My small son (6 yrs old) got kicked in the back by accident by a child that was older( maybe 10) and too big to be lifted to decorate a higher branch. It was an unnecessary incident that with a little bit of organization and order could have b
All three of my children grew up in this Library. It is very child/teen friendly with fun seating in the teen section. With an active children’s program. Sometimes my kids even met tutors here. They also have space downstairs that can be rented out for more high tech meetings. My husband used it when he needed a quiet workspace. For those of you who like digital, they are connected to a digital library network that is one of the largest in the country. I have never had an issue with the librarians in the 20yrs we have lived here.
Have you heard the best kept secret in Ligonier is the library! My daughter and I visited the Ligonier Valley Library to complete her library passport that showcases all the libraries within Westmoreland County. As we walked in, they were having a program called First Friday. For this program, kids get to create their own bubble tea drink, enjoy popcorn, make a craft and when they are done with their craft, they can turn it in for a token to spin the prize wheel! I don't know who had more fun the kids or the parents. The librarians that we spoke with today not only pointed out some key features of the library such as the beautiful sunroom where you can sit and enjoy some quiet time or take a tour of the Pennsylvania Room where you can not only learn about the Vietnam war but also see some
