Les BBQ

Drove all the way from Sugarhouse for “authentic” BBQ and dropped over $45… for what turned out to be the world’s most expensive taste test. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with oxtail cabbage, and I got the oxtail, ribs, mac and cheese, and beans. Full transparency: I’d never had oxtail before. I also didn’t realize it apparently comes floating in its own private lake of grease. The meat did fall apart nicely though… so I’ll give credit where it’s due. The ribs? Decent but slightly chewy tough. Not the good BBQ chew either—more like “hope your dental insurance is current.” The sauce tried its best to save them, but it was clearly fighting a losing battle. We traveled all the way from Washington State and made sure Les Barbecue was on our must-try list and it did not disappoint. The oxtails were hands down the best I’ve ever had. The flavor was unreal and tasted like real Texas barbecue done right. The mac and cheese was fire, the portions were generous, and the price was absolutely reasonable. Customer service was on point from start to finish. I ordered a two-meat plate, was completely stuffed, and still had enough to take home for dinner. The only thing I could even remotely say as feedback is I wish there was Texas-style corn or cornbread but that’s me really reaching for something to be critical about. I spent a little over 18 dollars for this. For the amount you get it’s worth it. The customer service was great. Only gave it a 3 because I felt like the chicken could’ve been cooked more (too red, ik bbq meat is supposed to be like pink sometimes but that was beyond pink) and need more flavor. The sides on the other hand were great. 5/5 for the baked potato and 3.5 for the mac n cheese. Would I eat here again… yes but for the sides

I’ve been wanting to come here for a while, glad I finally got to. I got the 3 meat plate oxtail, spare ribs, and chicken. The oxtail was absolutely amazing, full of flavor and fall off the bone. Whatever rub they put on is dialed in and perfected. I did expect more seasoning on the spare ribs, but they were cooked perfectly, very tender and juicy. The chicken was spot on. The sides were good as well. Everything was fresh and very hot, and I thought the price was very reasonable.

Decent bbq place. I tried chicken, sausage, brisket, and smoked ox tail and they are all decent and flavorful (brisket is my favorite). The restaurant is quite small but they have outdoor dining area (fortunately it wasn’t too cold today). I like the potato salad but baked beans aren’t my style. The price is quite high compared to other bbq places around.
