Lenoir City Public Library

The staff is very friendly and helpful. There's a preschool story time the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month (10:30am). For a small library there's a decent selection of books. They also have audiobooks and ebooks available. The library is usually quiet during the day, it's a great place to study, read, or write. My son and I love going.

It's a very small library and thus not ideal for a recent fiction collection. But for research purposes, periodicals, etc, it does the job. The staff when I visited were professional and courteous, as I was greeted the moment I entered. The interior was well kept and cared for. My primary criticism is that they have not updated to an electronic library catalog, and I'm guessing that's because the city hasn't chosen to fund it. Lenoir City certainly isn't Knoxville, but I believe it's not so small that the city can justify their one and only public library still using an antiquated card catalog in the 21st century.

It is a small library so not many selections for anyone looking for specific things, the ladies are usually helpful and getting a library card is really easy just have a license and you basically have access to everything and the computers. I mostly just come to study and its nice since it is small that no one really bothers anyone.

My husband and I attempted to go to our county library this Saturday. The web site does indicate 9 til 1 s Saturday hours. We arrived only to find the doors locked and no Saturday hours posted for being open. Since this is a public library, I would think there would be at least a few Saturday hours or one day of staying open later. Some of us do have Monday through Friday daytime jobs. Very poor public service.

Edited: Availability of titles is definitely more of a miss than a hit, however, when researching other libraries selling cards for out-of-state borrowing privileges, it turns out the Tennessee Reads system is already one of the better ones, unfortunately. Also, unfortunately forced to transfer my digital library services from Overdrive to Libby. Have yet to compare this library to other libraries in the county, as i expect that this one is the largest.
