La Playa Mexicana

Excited to have this new spot on the island! I am very picky with Mexican food since I grew up in San Diego where all of the best Mexican food was part of my every day “food” and the bar is set high! We ordered beef nachos and a chicken burrito, and we were served chips & salsa while we waited for our order. HUGE kudos for this perk because in Baja California every Mexican restaurant greets you with chips, salsa, and water when you sit down to order! Everything tasted so fresh - Hot fried tortilla chips, flavorful guacamole, real cheese sauce and the true test was the flavorful refried beans!! We’ll definitely be back to see what Luke adds to the menu, but so far the basics are worth checking out.

Great little place to eat. Super friendly staff! We had chicken nachos and shrimp tacos. The rice was a little crunchy and mushy but tacos were great! The server who sat us (forgot to ask her name) it was her first night and she did such an amazing job!

We’re visiting Kauai and have had lots of Hawaiian food so we were craving some Mexican food and found this place online. So glad we did! Super yummy and authentic! Simple menu, cute patio and excellent service! Loved it!!

Went here for dinner with our party of 8. Chips were cooked up fresh for us and both the chips and salsa were delicious. Several of us ordered the chicken enchiladas, a few ordered the carne asada quesadillas, and one ordered the carnitas burrito. Everyone absolutely loved their food and we were super glad we stopped here. Thanks for a great meal.

Such great food here, amazing flavors, and such friendly owners! We had their taco carne, which was delicious, and their nachos, which were the best! We came here twice on our trip. Can’t wait to come back!
