Everything was a good experience at Kurama. We had tue dinner for 2 and upgraded to the filet. The only thing I would change is taking the bean sprouts out of the hibachi experience. My husband is a fan but I personally think they taste like dirt no matter what you do to them😅. They were really good about mine and my husband's egg allergy and waited until everything was cooked before making the rice for the egg people(sorry).
We had a 5:30 reservation but don’t get seated until around 6:15-6:20. It was a busy day so we understand the long wait. The food was okay, our chef was great though. There was a table of very very loud group of people so the vibe of the restaurant was great until they got there.
The bartender Rodney is the best thing about this place. This is the second time I have come as a group and had terrible service ( with reservations). The waitress started taking food orders before the party was seated. Never served one drink. We ate soup and salad within 10 minutes of being seated before we even looked at the menu. This a table of 12 so about $1200 table. Dining here is supposed to be an experience. It was a chow hall shuffling you out as quickly as possible. No finesse. No fancy cooking. Just slap it on the plate and get out. Again, Rodney is the only Gem here.
If I can give a zero star, I would. Right after we enter the restaurant, the air is filled with smoke - not a nice smell from the hibachi, but burnt smell! Was thinking.. uh-oh did the chef screw up and burnt the food?! We have it a try anyway and ordered shrimp and scallops hibachi. For a $30 set, I expect to enjoy myself. Disappointment hits once food served, a chunk of burnt bean sprout on my plate. Had high hopes for the scallops (this is what I paid for right???). Scallop tasted nothing but salty! VERY VERY SALTY. Does the kitchen only has one seasoning - soy sauce?!! Shrimp is not fresh. Fried rice is tasteless. Bathroom floor and doors are sticky! How did this place get over 4.0 rating? Feel sad for people who thinks it’s ok to eat here
Our first time trying this hibachi place I would say, it didn’t disappoint me in the aspect of food wise, was a big difference than other hibachi which is a good thing. I had gotten an emperor dinner. My food was cooked perfect, the food was amazing and great. My chef was an amazing person, but the waitress not the best I started with one person and ended up having another person providing our drinks, waitress was not very attentive, I didn’t see any sushi in the menu which I had to even ask if they had, which then they provided a different menu just for sushi. My drinks, sushi and food was great don’t get me wrong. I just feel the waitress should be more tentative to their table. I would recommend it just because if the food and the chef. But not for the waitress and the service I got fro
