Have been going to Kura often lately and the food is great! Lots of different options. Between the staff and the KuraBot service is great. Friendly “irasshaimase” greeting as you’re being welcomed in and seated. Beyond the revolving conveyor belt sushi you can order on the screen and have it delivered to your table on a top, separate conveyor belt straight to your table. Some favorites of mine are the Crunchy Roll, Snow Crab California Roll, American and the new Kumamoto Wagyu, Miso Ramen soup and honestly too many to keep listing. Can’t forget the Taiyaki ice cream with the red bean paste. Definitely my new favorite dessert. Highly recommend checking it out as it’s a very fun and delicious experience! The sushi rice is machine-made instead of hand-formed, so it’s a bit firm and lacks the soft texture you’d get from hand-shaped sushi. The fish itself is quite fresh, though, and they provide wasabi and ginger, which is great. The price is on the higher side considering the portion sizes — I’ve been visiting Kura since the Fort Lee location, then Edison, and now the Freehold store. The price increases over the years have been quite steep. It would be an excellent deal if it were a little more affordable. One highlight of my visit was the service from a staff member named Jason — he was extremely polite and attentive, truly the best server in the whole restaurant. It’s rare to find such great service these days!!

This place is amazing. I will say they could use more vegetarian options like a sweet potato roll and if you want a fork you get a plastic one. Also servers was far and few between as you do most of the food ordering yourself and a robot delivers your drinks. But the food was phenomenal. Tried some things i never thought I would eat just to try it. As well as the free gift when you get to 15 plates makes sure your gonna be full by the time you leave. I can not wait to come back here for more.

As a fairly new enjoyer of the Kura Sushi franchise and having had the privilege of visiting a handful of locations across the country, I thought I had the basic concepts of the company down pat: fresh sushi, cute Japanese themes, and absent service. Before I stopped by Kura in Freehold, I had come to expect a hands-off style from the employees and figured the franchise as a whole was leaning toward a new-age, self-serve method of food service (which isn't a complaint or criticism, I quite enjoy the adorable drink robot they have on-site ^^). However, as soon as I heard the first set of welcoming, IRRASHAIMASE from the staff when I was being shown to my seat, I knew this location had its eyes set on something different. They provided the great sushi and adorable Japanese characters, of cou
