This arepa was everything it should be. Golden and crispy on the outside, soft inside, and generously filled with tender shredded meat, fresh lettuce, and a creamy sauce that balanced every bite. Nothing felt heavy or bland. It tasted homemade, comforting, and filling without being overwhelming. The kind of food that doesn’t need hype because it speaks for itself.
This is not a review of the service, but of the food quality and pricing. In my opinion, this place is overpriced for what you get. The beef was so heavily seasoned that it reminded me more of Indian food than what I expected. The avocado, which I paid extra for, was bruised and darkened. The arepa was dry, and the protein inside it was also dry. They upcharge for everything. For example, if you order an arepa with protein and cheese, those are treated as two separate add-ons; otherwise, you’re left with a dry arepa with protein and no sauce or toppings. The service was good and the space is clean, so I have no complaints there.
Venezuelan fast food, and American fast food with a Venezuelan spin. Some of the South American foods tend to be heavy, fried, with lots of meats, starches and mayo-based sauces….and I love it! For us today’s lunch; Tequenos, Combo de Tostados with shredded chicken, and Tumbarrancho with shredded chicken. Details of the food is in the current menu pictures I posted with this review. The Tequenos were basically a cheese stick covered in a light bread dough and deep fried (as in mozzarella sticks only a different breading.) It was served with a with a mayo-based dressing that tasted similar to tarted sauce. The Combo de Tostados came as two per the order. Each was shredded chicken, cheese, cabbage and the “house” mayo-based special sauce, piled between two deep fried arepas. The Tumbarrancho
I was craving fried plantains, so I came here looking forward to a sandwich as well. The sandwiches were so expensive I asked if they came with a side, to which she replied they did not. I couldn't justify getting both, so I only got the plantains (with a small bit of cheese) to the tune of $8. They were absolutely delicious, but a small quantity for the exorbitant price. I'm sure the rest of the menu is delicious, but to me it was cost prohibitive for a casual lunch.
Decided on K’Sero’s and ordered most of the menu since it’s Venezuelan food and more than likely tasty. Will have tomorrow for lunch. Tequenos = melty cheese inside bread This is the only place I’m eating at for at least 7 months. I’m not kidding.
