Knapps Creek Trout Lodge

Can't say enough about this wonderful lodge and its wonderful hosts. Our family of four spent three nights here so that our 14 year old son could learn to fly fish. He took the 4-hr lesson and then had the full-day guide the next day. He loved every moment. Mark was incredibly patient and our son walked away from the experience in a state of fishing bliss. My husband, daughter and I checked out the Highland Scenic Road (beautiful) and Beartown State Park (magical). Anne provided lovely breakfasts each morning, and was a wealth of information about the area, from restaurants to places to hikes to fossils. I really enjoyed our conversations. And Smoky the dog was a hit with all of us. We hope to be back soon.

What a great visit! Anne and Mark are wonderful hosts, knowledgeable guides, and skilled teachers. We really felt at home during our visit, and were already scheming our next trip. Breakfast and conversation each morning was a highlight of the day. Knapps Creek was a great spot to experience some real trout excitement, but there are also options to get off the beaten path. My wife, two dogs, and I had a great time.

We were wanting to learn how to fly fish, so we signed up for the 4 hour lesson. Our guide was Mark who was very knowledgeable about fly fishing and such a very patient teacher. As beginners, he made us feel very comfortable in learning. We had a great time and caught a lot of trout in the stream that runs right by the lodge. If you want to learn how to fly fish, this is the place for you. We will be back to do a guided trip next time.

Spacious accommodations with a great view of the surrounding mountains from a patio overlooking Knapps Creek. Also, the freshly prepared breakfasts were delicious. Additionally, the hosts are very accommodating and the beds are very comfortable. Further, fly fishing opportunities are plentiful, as are other outdoor activities. Overall, I highly recommend this lodge.

The hosts and the atmosphere was simply amazing! We will definitely come back to visit! Highly recommend! Fly fishing has become something we really love now! The instructor was fantastic with teaching!
