Kimo's

Kimo’s is hands down the best restaurant in Rockaway, no debate. The ambiance alone is worth the visit because it legit feels like you walked into Greece and Egypt at the same time. I really felt so comfortable here. The food is where it really shines though. I got the Chicken Souvlaki Bowl and I’ve had souvlaki plenty of times but this one is different. The chicken is so juicy and well seasoned it’s hard to go back to anywhere else. My friends got The Stacker and the Thick Chick, which are loaded fries with their homemade fried chopped chicken, white sauce and chipotle mayo. I was really disappointed with my experience at Kimos Kitchen. The spices on the pita were so overbearing and piled on so heavily that they completely took over the taste of the food. It was impossible to enjoy anything else because all you could taste was the seasoning. On top of that, the restaurant itself smelled like dirty, old oil—and unfortunately, that smell translated directly to the food. The fries tasted like they were fried in old, unclean oil, which made them pretty much inedible. Overall, not a good experience and not somewhere I’d return to. We are so excited that we discovered Kimo’s. The food is delicious and fresh, and they have a great menu, and even had homemade Greek orange cake when we were there, which is a huge plus for us as we love it! And we really appreciate the fact that it is a family owned and run restaurant and they were super friendly when we were there. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Wow!!! This is the best salad I’ve ever had! The mixed greens were fresh!! Crispy! Variety of mixed greens kale spinach- what a great idea. I ordered a side of lamb and beef meatballs- full of flavor and paired perfectly. Also came here for the bowls and tried all the other options of meats, chicken, pita, sides available- always 100% food and service!

Not fresh and didn’t taste good. Good a bowl with steak that didn’t taste fresh and good, and huge tomatoes that haven’t been diced properly. Forced myself to finish it because didn’t want to waste meal that is not cheap. I had ordered cucumbers in the bowl and they didn’t include it. A was a very plain bowl with rice meat and tomatoes and paid $52 (with two coffees and desert). Not sure how this place has 4.8 reviews, so deceitful.
