Kaier Mansion Bed & Breakfast

If you ever find yourself in Mahanoy City, this is a real find. I have roots in Schuylkill County and have a fondness for these old coal mining towns that are struggling to survive after all the jobs in coal and manufacturing left. The town has a rich immigrant history.||||Stayed here one night in July with my sister before heading to other accommodations at a relative's house nearby. Joan was a wonderful hostess - friendly, but not hovering everywhere. We were the only guests there the Wed. night we stayed and had the place to ourselves in the evening which was interesting. The mansion is rumoured to be haunted, but we didn't have any unusual experiences.||||There are 5 rooms; we saw most of them and stayed in the room with the double beds and private bath. Joan was the most geracious hostess and the place is spotless and amazing. The antiques were impressive. The town is depresses but you can see where it was in its hey day during the coal mining business. The history of this place is fantastic. There were 2 restartants I reccomend the mexican restautant in SHannadoah (next town over) it looks like you should just kep driving but the food is renown! The Ovalon in Hazleton for dinner!

This clean and comfortable Victorian era mansion was the perfect couples get away/ place to stay after local wedding. The King sized bed was so comfortable, not the fluffy overstuffed kind either, and the clawfoot tub! We had to go out for bubble bath! Breakfast was good-oatmeal and greek yogurt and FRESH WARM sticky buns. You won't get this at the Holiday Inn express on Styrofoam plates! Cannot wait to return.
