J's Steakhouse

We loved the food here so much, we came back a second time while traveling here in Oregon. We are lucky to have found this gem. The food was not only delicious with generous portions, but also the service was superb! We had the mussels and mushrooms as appetizers the first time dining here. The second time, we tried the salmon bites. My husband ordered the New York strip steak for his meal both times we ate at this restaurant since he loved it so much. I had the Marsala Chicken and then the Parmesan Chicken. Both times the chicken was moist and tender and so tasty. I had an amazing experience at J’s Steakhouse! I ordered the New York steak topped with garlic butter shrimp, paired with a loaded baked potato and the house salad. Everything was spot on — they even bring out fresh bread to the table that was literally steaming hot and tasted like it just came straight from the oven. The salad was great, but the standout was the croutons! They were soft with just the right crunch and had a buttery flavor that made them unforgettable. The steak itself was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly how I asked. We also tried the salmon, lobster tail, and the T-bone steak — all generous portions and cooked beautifully. Was not my favorite. I did take out. The sautéed mushrooms came more like a soup and spread in the bag… The chicken cordon bleu would’ve been great, but it was just a little too salty for my taste. Presentation was awesome. Maybe it was because it was takeout because I see this place has great reviews so maybe I’ll try it again. Calamari was awesome.

I come here for work a couple times a year and regularly go to Rooster's Steakhouse but the last time was just too much, service and paying $10 for a slice of frozen Marie Calendars pie for dessert was the straw that broke the proverbial camels back! So this trip I was looking up steak thinking about trying the other place...then J's Steakhouse popped up. We came here, didn't want to sit downstairs with all the couples doing special occasions, so we headed up to the lounge. Perfect place for business folks, bright lighting, tables, Erma the bartender was awesome. Bread was so soft and fresh, generous butter so when you go for more bread there's plenty. The service was fine and staff were friendly, but the food didn’t live up to the high 4.8 rating. The steak was overcooked and dry, and the mahi-mahi was also heavily overcooked. The side salad felt like low-quality pre-packaged greens, which was disappointing for a steakhouse. Overall, the experience was okay, but not close to what the current rating suggests.
