Are you kidding me with some of these reviews? It's a really affordable place to stay. I'm pretty sensitive to smells and I didn't smell anything bad while there. The room is extremely affordable and comfortable. They have everything you need including a washer and dryer. I think this is a fabulous place to stay, I've stayed here multiple times, haven't had any issues.

We paid about $300 per night for a tiny, cramped, unventilated basement room with odor from the toilet. Sure, the common area is cute, there's granola bars you can grab, a laundry machine you can use. But at that price point, even for Anchorage during peak tourist season, anyone would expect a little more than what was almost like a frat house room. 2 out of the 5 rooms are on the basement level, and if you're unlucky like me, you get to suffer the stuffy, humid Alaska summer with no AC and no basic ventilation in the basement rooms. And yes the basement rooms had a moldy old house smell, almost like overcooked broccoli or eggs. The toilet has a faint but insufferable sewer smell, and I had to keep the bathroom door shut tight during the entire stay and hold my breath while i was in there.

My wife and I recently stayed in the Nautical room (which is one of three rooms downstairs). The pictures of a nice clean room that are connected to the room listing have to be very old. The carpet is worn and stained, and some furnishings are no longer the same as pictured. The mattress is old and soft and the metal bed frame squeaks whenever you move. The folding bag stand fell apart as the pivot bolts no longer have nuts on them - I put it back together. There is mold in the corner of the tiny shower stall and the ventilation fan does not work. Those with mobility issues be aware - besides the stairs to access the basement the toilet and the shower are on an elevated 1-foot-high step-up platform. There were 4 box fans available standing in the lower hall of which we used one to ventilat

quick, painless, and simple. when you check in online, you get a code for the front door and your room. there’s two kitchens, one upstairs with all of the self serve breakfast options, and one downstairs where you are free to keep your own food. clean and comfortable rooms, with nice bathrooms as well. they also provide free laundry. overall a pleasant night’s stay in anchorage.

Jewel Lake Bed and Breakfast is convenient from the Anchorage airport. The room was clean, quiet, and the shades were dark, which is important when staying in Alaska in June. They had common area where you could relax. If you want a fancy prepared breakfast, this is not the place for you. They offer a self serve and cook yourself breakfast, which was perfect for us who just want eda light breakfast and still being on EDT. They had a standard variety of basic breakfast offerings. They had a large guest refrigerator, so where we stored our food for a picnic lunch and froze an ice pack. We booked ahead and got a good rate.
