Not the nicest, most welcoming interior. It definitely needs an upgrade. It's nice that they have their own parking lot as it can be difficult to find a space downtown, especially in the summer. I think the food is good. Best Indian food in town. I typically get the lamb Vindaloo with Naan. They used to give free crisps (forgot the name) with chutney. Now they only give the chutney and make you pay for those. Cracker/crisps. Not that big a deal, but when you see a restaurant start cutting corners while allowing their interior to noticably age it usually means that either things are about to get worse or they are struggling financially. I hope this is not the case because would hate to lose a great Indian restaurant in Newburyport
Got food here tonight. Chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. I just got done puking my brains out and bad diarrhea. Pretty sure it’s food poisoning. My friend got food and is also sick
We went to Jewel in The Crown before a night out in Newburyport for our anniversary. We love Indian food and this has been one of the best in Massachusetts. We started out with a mango lassi and the meat samosa. The mango lassi was great, it's a timeless classic. The meat samosa had peas and ground lamb in it, the pastry was light, and the fillings were packed in, it went great with their mint sauce which has a hint of spice to it. For the main courses we had the keema curry, and the special biryani with garlic and basil naan. The keema curry has so much meat, there was undoubtedly enough for 3 people. I ordered it spicy, it was not spicy enough to make you sweat, but enough for you to know it was spicy. There was a good amount of peas, I love this dish and here it was a great value. The p
Food was great as well as the service. Interior could use some updating, but I'll definitely be going back.
We stopped her for dinner during our New England road trip. The restaurant is set in a charming historic town. We opted to dine outside. The food and ambience were good. We ordered the veggie appetizer sampler and the vegetarian Thaali, along with mango Lassi. The staff were friendly.
