Jericho Public Library

Let’s face it, it’s hard to dislike any library. The accommodations are cozy, staffs are overwhelmingly beyond agreeable, and every one shares in a welcoming atmosphere of a shared love of reading and community. Jericho seems to buck the trend. Case-in-point: Virtual Zoom events have taken off since the 2020 Pandemic, perhaps the one good thing that came out of this disaster. Now folks who are bedridden or in far-flung locations could attend! But with the abundance of these, registering can often be unwieldy and forgotten. In the past, one could always show up late and still participate — but not with virtual events. Fortunately, one can call the library and request the link, wherein someone would register you manually or even just send over the link. *Every other library* I’ve ever cal

I want to give a huge shoutout to to the staff at this library, they’re very kind we’re very kind and helpful to me, at many times they went out of their way to help me out with my requests.

Today I have to drive to this area while my husband was in surgery. Even though this was not our home library we went in and utilized it to get school work done and play while we waited. It was during the day and there was nobody there. I'm surprised because usually there are at least toddler and preschool each children there during the day with their caregivers. However we were the only ones at this time. The facility was nice and clean they had lots of tables available to work. We found a book that we enjoyed and they had computers and iPads available to play on as well as some toys and coloring pages available. The library staff were friendly and nice. Everything was clean and well kept. Beautiful library!

most of the librarians are entitled and let the power get to their head. They are super strict and will kick you out or warn you for anything that might remotely violate a rule. They are also very prejudiced against queer people. I have had a hateful comment made against me from a librarian when she was sure nobody else could hear her, as well as clear prejudice shown towards me and my partner. The environment feels very hostile and unwelcoming at times to the point where i have to bring this up with my therapist. They also talk very loudly with each other in the upstairs area. There are a few nice librarians who actually know how to do their jobs, but most of them are power hungry and entitled. Neat setting. I particularly like the 2nd floor reading area. They also have a nice theater and meeting room areas to hold activities for the community.
