Customer Reviews
One of the best authentic Japanese cuisines in Orange County, Iyasaka is a delightful continuation of the famous Kitayama in Newport Beach, complementing their renowned recipes. It’s a must-visit if you enjoy authentic, unpretentious Japanese food. We started with a chef-recommended fried potato, perfectly diced and infused with truffle oil, served in a basket. Our hostess also recommended the Ika Shumai (steamed squid dumpling), which was steamed to perfection and served in a special chef's sauce. Next, we enjoyed corn and shiso tempura along with the Tori Tsukune (chicken meatball) served with egg yolk on the side For our main courses, we chose the evening special: roasted duck, sliced and served with wasabi and a special tartar sauce. You will certainly devour everything on your plate.
Came here with a group of four, one of whom being from Japan. We were all amazed by the variety and quality of food. It is presented as sharing plates and is much more than sushi. Daily specials were presented on a chalk board, but they had a set menu as well. The miso cheese was *chef kiss*. The service was excellent and friendly and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Will be going back soon!!
Vibes and flavors like you found the perfect izakaya down an alley in Japan. Affordable and delicious unique Japanese food at least down in the OC. Teba gyoza and Eihire are hard to come by anywhere in the SoCal area, especially done so well!
This place won’t stay a secret for very long. It’s clear this is the chef’s passion project by the thoughtfulness of the food. I only wish I lived closer so I could come more often.
I tried this place for the first time and it's my new favorite now. I heard they recently reopened remodeling from the previous bar operation, which explains the very few reviews.
