Island Empanada

To be honest I think the business should be embarrassed. Not only for the food but its representation of culture they apparently take so much pride in based on their responses to negative reviews here. Everything and I mean everything is batch cooked and if its not batch cooked and if I’m wrong then your delivery of food to the customer is sub bar. The rice and beans taste like they were held in a warmer from the am to the pm. The plantains i received were burnt and black simply deep fried in the fryer and greasy? My potato ball burnt to a crisp and served? Authentic recipes yes you do have authentic food and for that I agree, but those same recipes and authentic food are being served in the worst possible way and not the best way it can be represented. I got a family dinner to go with an extra small side. $4.99 for a small tostones, I received 5 pieces… FIVE for $5 are you kidding?

I wasnt ware that a place so good were in my neck of the woods so i recently tried the island-inspired Cuban sandwiches at "Island Empanadas," located in Ronkonkoma and they were absolutely delightful! The extra cheese and sweet plantains added a perfect touch. I highly recommend anyone to come and savor these delicious flavors.

Went in for a quick lunch the other day by myself. Got the two empanada lunch special with rice, beans, and plantains. The food was excellent! Very fresh and great portion. Plus friendly staff, clean place, and nice music! Will definitely be back.

Second visit in a row that I was given the wrong empanadas. I ordered a broccoli cheddar empanada and the sticker on its bag also said broccoli cheddar, but it’s just a beef empanada. Luckily I’m not a vegetarian or anything and it tastes fine but it’s not what I ordered. I’ve only went 3 times and twice it’s been wrong so that’ll be it for me.
