My wife and I visited Ishin Omakase last night, and it was hands down the best omakase experience I’ve had in the United States — and yes, I’m including New York in that statement. From the moment we sat down at the counter, the atmosphere was warm and intimate, the kind of place where you immediately feel welcomed rather than observed. The chefs engaged us in genuine conversation throughout the meal, and when we shared stories from our travels in Japan, they lit up — swapping recommendations and memories that made the evening feel less like dining out and more like being hosted by old friends. Came for the omakase. The space is a private area/room with about 12 seats. Included a 10+ tasting plus wine/sake pairing 🥂 The fish was fresh and high quality 🍣 and the flavors were extraordinary! Chef was fun and engaging. For this level of experience, I wish there was a coat check area because I had to hang my coat on back of barstool. Soft chic music playing in the background would also be a nice touch. Overall great experience and tops my omakase experiences in NYC.

We had the privilege of dining in a private room with the exclusive chef Ito, who prepares each piece of sushi right in front of you with remarkable precision and artistry. Every bite — from his hands to your mouth — is a true delicacy, bursting with flavor and elegance. The experience is beautifully complemented by a curated selection of fine wines and sakes, and finished with a variety of exquisite desserts that make the evening complete. The food 3.5/5. Their Professionalism 2/5. The décor 5/5.  My overall experience at Ishin was Posh, but aggressively overpriced. It is a very beautiful place for a date night and that is even more amplified for NYE Celebration. They had a DJ and live music that was an absolute bonus. It was my third time being at the Celestia, but my first experience at Ishin. I really do wish I was more wowed by the food. The first two courses, including sashimi, were just fair. The cuts were quite thick. I was not a fan of Hakata Maki as well.  The nigiri was an absolute highlight and each course of nigiri got better.
