Inn at the River

Dan and Margaret were wonderful hosts. Their home is warm and inviting and beautifully put together. We even got to enjoy a beautiful snowfall while there that made it extra special! It’s a beautiful property not far from town or the ski hill. And they do a wonderful job making breakfast. You won’t be disappointed! We enjoyed using the sauna and our room the River Suite was inviting and very comfortable. It is accessed through their living room and kitchen so if that seems less private for some they may want to choose one of the other two rooms that don’t require you to go through their personal space when coming and going. Dan and Margaret didn’t make us feel uncomfortable with this, but it may be awkward for some. Overall, we loved our time!

I was looking for a place to rendezvous with my dad so we could be together over the 1 year anniversary since my mom passed. Finding Inn at the River was logistically perfect, as was the experience itself. It's a wonderfully welcoming place, tucked away just a short jaunt from downtown Wausau. Our hostess Margaret was a great communicator and we enjoyed the mix of time to ourselves and opportunities to connect with her and other guests over breakfast. We also spent time walking around the property along the river, no need to leave for a little outdoor enjoyment. Every detail of peace was provided and that's exactly what we were hoping for. For any occasion or season, I would highly recommend!

Lovely Inn nestled by the river, teaming with wildlife and solitude. Margaret and Dan provided a comfortable stay. Norman and Theo were very sweet.🐾 Will come again if we are ever in the area.

What a delightful stay. Everything was perfect. ||The Inn was located in a beautiful setting. Peaceful surroundings and the calming flow of the river. The room we stayed in was tastefully decorated with Northwoods decor. A quiet night and a great nights sleep.||Dan and Margaret Higginbotham were wonderful hosts. Beautiful location and house. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. The hosts put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming and warm environment for guests. Thank you also for providing a vegan breakfast option, it was delicious!
