Let start by what was really good mashed potatoes, red cabbage, pork schnitzel, cucumbers and german potato salad. What was so so but fresh green beans, veal jager, and the gravy. The gravy tasted like they used a browning mix instead of doing it the real way and it was pretty thin. I review alot so don't forget to follow
As a German-American and a regular February “snowbird” to North Myrtle Beach, Horst Gasthaus has been on my to do list for a number of years, but something always came up and it didn’t happen. Well, very happy to say that this year I was able to finally dine there with my wife and younger son. I was hoping that Spaten, my favorite, would be on tap, but Hey, you can’t have everything! There were four other German drafts to pick from, and Warsteiner was a good substitute! I started with a very good onion soup that like most places was smothered in cheese which I believe is unnecessary and actually takes away from the enjoyment of the broth and onions. HG has excellent rye bread, and a slice of this was under the cheese. Our main courses were Wiener Schnitzel with German potato salad and mar
Note: This review is from 3-4 stars. To start Horst Gasthaus is a german speciality place that serves German food such as german potato salad, schnizel, and more. they have a wide variety of veal, chicken and seafood dishes. Went here on Thursday February 12th 2026 with my parents, aunt, uncle and a few friends as a total party of 7. We did make a reservation online and highly recommend to do that. When we arrived, the parking lot was jam packed and we almost couldn't find a spot. However, we were luckily able to park in the back somewhere. This place is like a little house with german memoria on it. in the dining room, they also had an accordion player. When we walked in to the door, we waited about 6 -10 minutes for a host to greet us. When the host finally did, she sat us down right awa
A little piece of Germany in N. Myrtle Beach. We enjoyed our dinner and hope we can make back here again. We were warned in advance that the food arriving would be slow due to a new point of sale system. Our patience was rewarded and had no problems with that.
We visited during the week during happy hour. The parking lot was jam-packed and if you wanted a table, you needed a reservation. Since there were only two of us, we chose to eat at the bar and gave our reservation to someone else. The bartenders were super friendly and encouraged us to order off the happy hour menu. The happy hour menu consisted of many items from the regular menu but they were between $2 and $6 each.. I ended up with four different sides, schnitzel, and a large glass of wine for $25. The food was fabulous, just like my grandmom's cooking. Highly recommend!
