I stopped by unannounced on a rainy Sunday while visiting the state park, hoping to dodge the weather and maybe learn a thing or two. I had low expectations—but I love a good museum, so I thought, why not? I was blown away! Doug and Nyla generously gave me a tour and packed as much as they could into an hour and a half. I didn’t realize until later that I should have made an appointment, but they were so welcoming and gracious. The collection is expansive, and you can tell it's the result of many years of care and dedication from passionate people. I could have easily spent several more hours exploring. Truly a hidden gem in Hocking County. Thank you for teaching me so much in such a short time!

My girlfriend and I ended up here while searching for the downtown historical district I saw on a map and I'm so happy we got lost because this hidden gem is beyond interesting. There are countless historical photos and documents from the area and plenty of literature to read. There is a completely furnished classroom that made me feel like I was in a one-room school house during the early 20th century. Some guy donated a Kamikaze flag from World War II, complete with Japanese characters written all over it. The staff was also wonderful and very knowledgeable. Visit this place.
