Himalayan Nepali Cuisine

It’s been a while since I had Nepali food so I was stoked to see that there’s a small, family-owned restaurant here in Cary, NC. Himalayan Nepali Cuisine is located in a little strip so there is plenty of room for parking and I love how there’s a Tibetan/Himalayan gift shop right next door! Right when we walked in, we were seated and served some warm sweet ginger tea and papad which is a thin/crispy Nepali flatbread-cracker. We ordered the following: Chicken Momo Nepali Chicken Curry Garlic Naan Everything was delicious! The chicken filling inside the momo was yummy and the curry sauce was slightly tangy and spicy from the tomatoes and chilis. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I was really disappointed with my experience. I ordered pani puri, and the filling tasted like plain boiled potatoes with tomatoes and onions—there were no spices, cilantro, or the flavor I normally expect. The pani also tasted like simple salt water rather than the usual seasoned, spiced water. I also ordered chatpate, and it was stale and unpleasant to eat. The vegetables were cut into very large pieces instead of bite-sized, which made it hard to enjoy. I tried calling the restaurant to address the issue, but no one responded. Unfortunately, I feel like I wasted my money and I hope management can improve the quality and consistency moving forward.

This was the first dining experience for the four of us. We were warmly greeted and immediately served with their delicious complimentary ginger tea while we browsed the extensive menu. We ordered garlic naan, samosas and samosa chat. All quite tasty. I also thought the govi Manchurian was excellent. But I would say the chili chicken momos were my favorite. We also had steamed chicken momos, lamb vindaloo, chicken vindaloo and mango Lassi. And the service was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant and staff! The complimentary tea is lovely and bright. If waiting for a table, the incredibly kind staff offer cups of tea while waiting. I have yet to have a meal I didn’t enjoy, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu! Portions are large and I am always able to have a second meal from my leftovers. Reasonably priced and consistently stellar service.

What a delicious and healthy food.. service was super fast .. we were 8 people and everything we ordered was top quality and very tasty. We really enjoyed all the delicacy. All the staff was very hard working and helpful.. baigan bharta was the best … also free ginger tea was very soothing our family is big fan of this place .. very fast and efficient .. we need Nepali restaurant in Tampa-Sarasota Florida.
